High Speed 2 (HS2 Ltd.)

Overview Plan

Guide for Farmers & Growers

On the 7th July 2016 David Higgins, Chairman of HS2 Ltd. (non-departmental public body wholly owned by Department for Transport) announced alternative recommendations for HS2’s route and station in South Yorkshire.

The alternative route intersects the Danvm Drainage Commissioners Drainage District through Mexborough by a series of viaducts and embankments.

We have attended a HS2 information event held in Mexborough (19/07/16) and provided our contact details should the proposals progress to design stage in relation to Land Drainage Consents. It is anticipated that HS2 Ltd. will look to dis-apply the IDB Consent and Byelaws (similar to National Grids Carbon Capture Scheme) but agree as part of their planning approval to apply and obtain Consent from the IDB.

The Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP will be reviewing the recommendation and make an announcement later this year. He has also stated ‘… should I decide to adopt the report’s recommendations as my preferred option in South Yorkshire I will then hold a public consultation in order to allow local stakeholders and affected communities the opportunity to comment on the proposal, alongside a consultation on the property compensation and assistance schemes for the entire route’.

We have attached an overview map of the recommended route as well as HS2 Ltd. Guide for Farmers and Growers for your information.
